Seedling #05-Cr EM Dor. dip. 28", 6.5", 2 branches, 14 buds. Pale Lavender, huge flaring yellow to green throat. {[Hemerocallis 'Jedi Little Mike' x (H. 'Tani' x (H. 'Hamlet' x H. 'Peppermint Stripe')) x H. 'Envy Me'] x Seedling #03-07-10. Seedling #05-Cr.
This seedling was more an opportunity for an artistic contrast than a wholly serious selection. It is an UFo "wannabe" but doesn't fit any of the formal definitions. So in photographing it, I added a spring of A. Palmatum "crispum", a crispate (upwardly curled) leaved form of Japanese Maple. The color contrast also provided good counterpoint. I am a sucker for luminescent green throats, and the way the sunlight backlit this flower (the left image) caught my eye. In shade, (right image), the camera yields a more accurate representation of the flower -- pretty, with a nice flat, wide open form, but not distinctive in any substantial way.
The DaylilyNut Farm has never had rust. It is state inspected, and is located about 25 miles west of Baltimore, MD. In 2006 the garden was moved to a cold-pocket valley, on the boundary between USDA climate zones 5 and 6 (coldest winter night is about -10F).
