Seedling #05-1 EE re., Ext., no fr., Dor., dip., 25", 5.5", 3 branches, 12 buds. Shrimp/Pastel Pink bitone, thin cream white midrib, faint darker halo/eye, green throat. (Hemerocallis 'Lights of Valinor' x H. 'Icehouse Effect') x H. 'Penguin Promenade' Seedling #05-1. Fertile both ways.
Wondering whether this is worthy of registration. It's color range is unique for the EE bloom season. It is a very pure, clear pink that blooms at a time when only the eariest of "Little Yellow Varmints" are blooming. However, unlike the LYV's, #05-1 does not rebloom. Bud count is merely adequate, so this plant is finished blooming by the time most others are just beginning to think about blooming. Through the rest of the season, the foliage remains a rich green and very disease free and healthy, as is characteristic of a species great-grandkid. So the foliage will be a standout during times when many other modern cultivars become an embarassment.
The DaylilyNut Farm has never had rust. It is state inspected, and is located about 25 miles west of Baltimore, MD. In 2006 the garden was moved to a cold-pocket valley, on the boundary between USDA climate zones 5 and 6 (coldest winter night is about -10F).
