Daylily Nut -- Seedling #03-LWE
Possible registration (click on the picture below for a larger view)
Seedling #03-LWE EM re. Ext. Dor. dip. 26", 4", 2 branches, 14 buds. Near white self, yellow-green throat. (Hemerocallis 'Lights of Valinor' x H. 'Icehouse Effect') Seedling #03-LWE. Fertile both ways.
Here is a keeper that has just kept asking for attention every year. Perhaps it will only be a bridge plant for lack of strong distinction. But #03-LWE keeps presenting a beautiful, refined and proportioned clump presence every year. That along with the fine degree of whiteness (lacking yellow, but not as luminous as H. 'Gentle Shepherd' -- see comparison photo below), and the ability to rebloom once in mid-late season here in Maryland, make it a very pleasing garden plant that I will definitely grow just to enjoy for quite a few years to come.

The rebloom has been limited to one scape per clump here, and the branching and bud count are only average. These are signs of lack of distinction for me. But #03-LWE is beginning to show signs of being a useful parent. I did not begin using it heavily until its clump presentation made itself known. This is definitely one of those plants on the "slow track" to acceptance in my garden. Similar to Sheherazade (1001 Tales of the Arabian Nights), this beauty manages to entice and stimulate every season, and thus avoid the compost heap.
The DaylilyNut Farm has never had rust. It is state inspected, and is located about 25 miles west of Baltimore, MD. In 2006 the garden was moved to a cold-pocket valley, on the boundary between USDA climate zones 5 and 6 (coldest winter night is about -10F).
