DaylilyNut -- Seedling #03-07-10

(Click on the image for a larger picture of the flower)

Here's an interesting form out of a long cross of (Hemerocallis 'Ornate Ruffles' x H. 'Envy Me'). This is a seedling which first bloomed in 2003, and is being kept for evaluation. OR gets its ruffling from H. 'Monica Marie' and has passed a lot of that to this seedling. H. 'Envy Me' is a Reinke Spider out of Bud Bennet's H. 'Country Charmer' and H. 'Kindly Light'. I'm not confident that this is distinctive enough to be worthy of introducing, particularly since it is not a super-large flower. Further, this line is definitely not my main focus. But I've always thought it would be interesting to see what a heavily ruffled spider looked like -- that was the inspriration for the cross. Others are pursuing this form as well, and are giving it much more attention than I.
